So You Are Looking For an Aberdeen hairdresser
So you are thinking about changing your hairdresser. If you are looking for a new hairstylist you probably Googled “hairdressers Aberdeen reviews” to try and find the best option.
But what is the best way to choose the perfect hairdresser? My quick guide should help point you in the right direction and avoid any nasty surprises!
-
Ask friends and family
Ask your friends and family who they would recommend getting your hair done. It might also be a good idea to ask who they would avoid. After all, most of us have ‘bad haircut’ stories!
-
Ask strangers (honest!)
This might sound strange – particularly in Aberdeen where people are very reserved. But if you see someone with a really nice haircut then go up and ask them who did it. Most people will be flattered you asked. Be sure to ask for the name of the particular stylist who does their hair, not just the name of the salon.
-
Inspect the salon
Have a good look around. See if the hair salon is well kept, clean and tidy. Are all the tools well looked after? Do they have a good selection of professional hairstyling brands? Is there a sense of pride in the appearance of the salon?
-
Have a “trial run”
It can be a bit scary going in and getting a haircut from a stranger. How do you know if you can trust them. Even with recommendations there still may be some trepidation about what might happen. The solution? Start gentle and try the hairstylist out with something simple.Start by booking an appointment at a quite time. that way you can get know your stylist a little better without feeling rushed or flustered.
Consider booking a wash and blow-dry – something simple and straightforward that won’t be devastating if it goes wrong. That way you can find out if you get on. Does he understand you (and your hair)? It is a great way to tell – although you may find it expensive paying just to get your hair styled – without any cutting or colouring – but it is a small price to pay to set your mind at rest.
-
Start with a trim
If you are feeling confident after your “trial run” try getting a trim. Don’t go for a full cut but if you normally get a shampoo and style make sure you get them to do this too. When it comes to the cut ask the hairdresser to take off the ends, just to be safe.
If you have got this far and you are happy with the results then your search around Aberdeen has ended. Congratulations, you have found your new hairdresser.
If you are not so happy with the results don’t panic. You can continue trying out other Aberdeen hair salons safe in the knowledge that you haven’t had a hair disaster!
